Antique Beds for the Cottage
I love antique beds, and here at the Pink Pig our selection is always changing. Take a peek
at our new selection. Our latest addition to the collection is a Twin Canopy bed, Adams Style
19th century, with hand painted motif of Satinwood and Maple.

singer from the 1800's. She traveled as part of a concert tour promoted by P.T. Barnum and became
known as "The Swedish Nightingale." As a result of her popularity, people began naming things after
her. During the Gold Rush, a town in California was even named after her, however the most lasting
was that of the Jenny Lind bed.

We gave this full size poster bed a new look with a fresh coat of paint in linen white and added
some color with the finials in a pale shade of gray.

More Finds For The Farmhouse - The Comfort of the Past
I found a few new pieces in my travels this past week that I thought I would share. Each have a true sense of comfort from the past. I am always attracted to things that show wear, choosing the rough over the pristine every time. I prefer furniture that shows it has not been influenced by worldly style or fashion.
My time spent in this rural countryside, surrounded by wonderful farmhouses and cottages, has taught me the true sense of country living. It's funny how I find inspiration in vistas others might regard as mundane.
I am enamored with jelly cabinets, hutches, tables and folk art pieces made for local use on the farm. So long ago and far away from the cities and towns where carpenters and cabinet makers toiled in more formal traditions.

Think Pink! - Our all time favorites at the Pink Pig
With Spring in the air, I thought I would share a few of our all time favorites items in the shop. They're all in our favorite shade - Pink!
We love putting our spin on old vintage lamps and these have been given a new look with fabric shades made using vintage fabric and trim. I always love searching for old vintage lighting yet most are without shades. The shade can make or break that look you are trying to achieve. These lamps are charming and a perfect fit for your cottage.
Our pretty Loungewear by Plum Pretty Sugar and Kiyomi features cotton tanks, lounge pants and pretty robes with vintage inspired prints in soft shades of pink.
Need a splash of pink on those white walls? Check out our fabulous prints in our Wall Decor category. There you will find our Couture Magazine prints, our decorative wall hooks made using antique ceiling tin or our fabulous tin hearts which look perfect in a window or on your favorite cabinet!
Need a gift in pink.....look no further as our Gift Category features our Signature Scent candle, a pretty business card holder, vintage pink glassware, a fabulous cross pendant hung on a vintage pink velvet ribbon or for the gal you think has everything - our Pink Handbag clock made using vintage jewelry!
I hope you have enjoyed our unique selection of goodies - let us know what your favorite is and always know you can find a unique gift for that someone special in our favorite shade PINK!

Spring Colors for Cottage Style Furniture
Our color inspiration here at the Pink Pig for Spring came from a recent treasure hunt I spoke about on an earlier post. A former Bed & Breakfast here in the Adirondacks was filled with bedrooms full of antique Cottage Furniture in this perfect shade of pale green.
Beautiful beds....charming dressers...small side tables, all in this most perfect shade of green. I took all these treasures back to the shop and decided that I would leave these pretty finds untouched from painting to keep their sense of style through this amazing color.
I love this shade of green as a way to add a splash of color in any room. As I glanced around the shop, I realized I managed to fill it with other finds in a variation of this same happy color....like this Faith, Hope & Charity Sign.
French Floral Pillows on a dreamy white sofa.
A beautiful hand-painted Torchiere lamp, my wicker front porch settee or even my vintage green glass bottles which I use for display.
A ribbon necklace done in hushed teal with pale brown trim - rough aquamarine stones dangle below and can be worn as a necklace or wrapped around your wrist as worn as a bracelet.
Vintage tin heart ornament made using antique ceiling tin adorned with an vintage crystal chandelier prism and then hung on a pretty matching ribbon.
Imagine this - coming from a gal who names her shop the Pink Pig. Anyway my new color inspiration this Spring is green and I welcome your thoughts and comments on what your favorite decorating color is and how you use it for inspiration in your home.

Searching for the Perfect Gift With Vintage Style?
Unique gifts for friends and family are at your finger tips at the Pink Pig. I have found some items that will be the talk of the party and will have your girlfriends asking "Where did you get that?" Be different. Be Unique. Don't give that boring Starbucks giftcard or the gift certificate for another mani/pedi. These new gift idea items are just a click away at the Pink Pig.
I was so excited to find these French Inspired tea towels. They are 100% cotton and come in three different designs. Every woman needs tea towels and the graphics on these will add style and elegance to the kitchen of your gift recipient.
This vintage Milk Glass set has an Indiana and Grape Glass pattern and features a set of eight plates and cups. This gift says "I know who is having the next luncheon!"
There is so much elegance in this set of 4 Verre d' Amitie glasses. Each glass is etched in French and it reads "A Glass for a Friend." What a beautiful and unique way to express your feelings.
