I was so excited to find these French Inspired tea towels.  They are 100% cotton and come in three different designs.  Every woman needs tea towels and the graphics on these will add style and elegance to the kitchen of your gift recipient.

This vintage Milk Glass set has an Indiana and Grape Glass pattern and features a set of eight plates and cups.  This gift says "I know who is having the next luncheon!"

There is so much elegance in this set of 4 Verre d' Amitie glasses.  Each glass is etched in French and it reads "A Glass for a Friend."  What a beautiful and unique way to express your feelings.

Finally, let me tell you about these amazing votive candles. Searching for Antique Treasures - Cottage Style in the Adirondacks

I recently went on a house call to look at a unique mansion full of Cottage Style Furniture.  This mansion called "Cobblestone" has an abundance of history as well as architectural design. With natural stone and log decor, this mansion featured several stone fireplaces along with 13 spacious rooms of fantastic hardwood floors and magnificent stone archways.  I was amazed as I walked from room to room to find one treasure after another.

I entered a large sleeping porch through a wall of french leaded glass doors. The room was filled with natural light and beautiful vintage wicker in an amazing shade of pink.

Gorgeous wallpaper
I climbed the massive staircase to the second level only to find this AMAZING wall of beautiful wallpaper.

Walking room to room I continued to find bedrooms filled with pretty blue painted dressers....fantastic twin beds with curved footboards and ticking fabric mattresses and various small tables each with their own unique design.

I have my work cut out for me! Visit us again as I bring each of these amazing examples of true Cottage Style Furniture back to it's original beauty.

The Pink Pig Presents Comfort Cottage on Etsy

I'd like to introduce you to Comfort Cottage, our niche store on Etsy selling "cushions and smalls for the home." If you aren't familiar with Etsy, it is a community of buyers and sellers whose focus is handmade and vintage products. Buying vintage and handmade ensures purchases are unique, sustainable, and supportive of independent business owners. It is a philosophy that mirrors the Pink Pig's dedication to acquiring statement pieces from the past and putting them to use today.

What can you find at the Comfort Cottage? The Comfort Cottage features a variety of accessories to add warmth and character to any home. Where else can you find a vintage milk carrier? The simple design allows for use in both modern and vintage settings. Fill with vintage milk cans or mason jars and bring yourself back to an era when you knew exactly where your food and drinks came from. Or give it a modern spin and use in the home office as a desktop organizer.

The Comfort Cottage also carries grand old wire baskets. The eye-catching forms and quality craftsmanship make these a staple in your home decor. A wire basket is wonderful for putting seasonal items on display and can also work as a stand-alone piece. With their clean lines, wire baskets can provide a nice transition from vintage to modern in your home.

Metal can be steely, harsh, and cold. But create a form with lovely curves and delicate scrolls, and iron becomes warm and whimsical. This tulip shape vase manages to appear light and airy despite being made of heavy iron. It is simply a great piece for the home or garden.

The next time you’re in the market for home décor, I hope you will check out Comfort Cottage and the other great vintage and handmade stores on Etsy. It is an excellent venue for finding one of a kind items. Once a week, I'll be featuring a new Etsy seller on my blog to promote buying handmade. There are some amazing shops! If you are an Etsy shop proprietor and would like to be featured, please email me.

Great Tunes For A Winter Weekend by Melody Gardot

I found this wonderful artist by accident while doing some research about Philadelphia artists. Having lived in Philadelphia for several years, I was amazed this gal grew up practically in my backyard and yet I had never heard of her.

Melody Gardot is an American jazz singer who was born in New Jersey in 1985. She started taking music lessons at the age of nine.  At 16, she played inPhiladelphia bars on weekends for a few hours each night where she insisted on only playing music she liked.  Melody was influenced by such blues and jazz artists as Judy Garland, Miles Davis & Duke Ellington as well as Latin music artists such as Stan Getz and Caetano Veloso.

At the age of nineteen she was involved in an auto accident while cycling which left her with serious injuries. During her time spent in the hospital she learned how to play the guitar and began writing songs.  She played at various venues in Philadelphia  and was spotted by the radio station WXPN, operated by the University Of Pennsylvania who encouraged her to assemble a demo which was quickly picked up by Universal Records.

Visit her website www.melodygardot.com and listen to her fabulous tunes.  I know you will become a fan just like I have.
